Basics2Bylines: A WNY Writers' Network
Now that we've got things going, I'd like to share some of our basic objectives.
Basics2Bylines: A WNY Writers' Network (based on the teachings of Kathryn Radeff) is a literary network open to all writers who wish to share and critique their written work and explore the publishing process in an ongoing group format.
Our writers' groups are held at two locations:
·Basics2Bylines Writers' Group at Barnes & Noble, Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst NY. Lynne Wallace-Lee, Coordinator. Meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month from 7-9:30 PM. Please note, however, that the April 4th meeting has been cancelled.
·Basics2Bylines Writers' Group at the Lancaster Public Library, 5466 Broadway, Lancaster NY. Edie Suarez, Coordinator. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6:30-8:45 PM.
·Basics2Bylines Writers' Group for the Younger Generation at the Lancaster Public Library, 5466 Broadway, Lancaster NY. Edie Suarez, Coordinator. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4:30-6 PM, open to anyone under age 18.
Meetings include discussions on finding potential markets and understanding the submission process, sharing publishing experiences and problems, as well as readings of students' current works-in-progress for group input. From basics to bylines, we'd like to help you get published.
Please feel free to attend the meetings at either or both locations, and bring a piece to share. We ask that you bring along 12-15 copies (if possible), as it makes it easier for all to follow along as the piece is read, and you may find extra feedback on the copies you get back.
Through our website: www.Basics2Bylines.org - and B2B Newsletter, we hope to create a literary network. One of our main objectives is to help writers connect in a literary community, by listing upcoming literary events and highlighting the accomplishments of our fellow writers, as well as sharing related on-line links that we feel will enhance the overall effectiveness of our fellow writers.

It's inspiring to see others getting published! It makes me want to pull out my Writer's Market and find a place to submit some of my poems. In fact, I think we should all make it a number one goal, for this week, to set up a manuscript and submit it for publication. Better yet, I CHALLENGE every one of you to meet that goal! Let's see how many of you so-called writers are up to the challenge. After you've sent out your manuscript, send me a quick email and tell me what you submitted - title/genre - and where you sent it. You've got one week - by April 11th, I want to hear from YOU!
